A pioneering agreement, due to its territorial nature and institutional representativeness, committing Vallès Occidental to incorporate the principles of the circular economy in a transversal way in economic, social and environmental development policies, at the local and regional level.
Vallès Circular
To achieve its goas, in the year 2017 the city launched the "Vallès Circular" initiative, designing actions aimed at both changing the production model and changing consumption habits in a collaborative framework. Singular proposals have been promoted in various areas such as the Market Place in Circular Economy” and the “Circular economy technology and advice platform” to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to companies and the implementation of circular solutions.
Circular citizens
Further initiatives include the "Recooperem: kitchen to share" project that aims to reduce food waste in school canteens with social use, by raising awareness among boys and girls; the “Comarcal Forest Biomass Service” to mobilize the supply of thermal energy; the campaign "Sign up for sustainable consumption" aimed at providing information and changing the habits of citizens. The actions in the regional environment are complemented by the work of the Vallès Occidental Waste Management Consortium, which manages installations and support services for smart collection, environmental awareness and education, and waste observation
