CCD partners promote circular activities at WCEF

Circular Flanders, Circle Economy and ICLEI Europe were among the CCD partners present at this year's World Circular Economy Forum in Brussels (Belgium). Alongside the launch of the CCD report 2024, they also participated in various sessions highlighting how circular public procurement and urban planning can contribute to the circular transition.

ICLEI moderated a session organised by Circular Flanders on the strategic implementation of circular public procurement. The session highlighted the importance of collaboration between suppliers and procurers, how public policy can scale up innovative circular solutions and provided an overview of how innovation can be integrated into the public procurement process.

ICLEI also worked together with Circle Economy to organise a session called Urban planning catalyses the implementation of circularity, with participation from UNEP, Re-London and a case study from Leuven. The session focused on how planning can be leveraged in the implementation of circular economy. A video recording of the session can be found here.

Overall, The World Circular Economy Forum was a successful event with 826 participants from all over the world joining in Brussels to share insights on how Europe is leading the way in mainstreaming circular practices. More information on the various workshops and plenary sessions at WCEF can be found here.
