Localising biodiversity protection through the circular economy

28 Feb 2022, 14:00-15:00

Localising biodiversity protection through the circular economy

In this webinar, three local & regional government representatives will demonstrate the potential of circular development interventions in dealing with the twin crisis. Additionally, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability will launch in partnership with Turku a briefing sheet exemplifying the synergies between circular economy and biodiversity protection and pointing to concrete tools local governments can use to maximize and monitor these synergies.

The webinar aims to address the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, which necessitates a shift from unsustainable patterns of consumption and production to a circular economic model that minimises new production and resource extraction, avoids pollution and prioritises regenerative resources. Local and regional governments have a key role to play in this process.
