Malmö profiled on ICLEI Circulars

ICLEI Circulars, a platform that aims to raise awareness about circular economy interventions at the local level, has profiled CCD signatory Malmö's circular efforts. The host of this year's ICLEI World Congress is Sweden's third largest city and one of the most industrialised towns in Scandinavia.

Malmö was for a time considered an industrial wasteland, but is now transformed into a sustainable city, thanks to its efforts to implement front-running sustainable interventions. In 2015 it became for example the first Swedish municipality to sign a declaration of commitment to work to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes the goal of carbon-neutrality by 2030.

Circularity is key to this vision and the city is currently implementing circular economy policies in a large variety of sectors. Its ICLEI Circulars profile offers examples relating to circular buildings and construction, circular water systems, circular food systems, and circular and sustainable public procurement.
